Fighter F15-3 history
The F-15 Eagle fighter is a third-generation fighter developed by McDonnell Douglas (now Boeing). After decades of iteration, the F-15 fighter has developed into the third-generation fighter with the richest combat experience. Today, N.C. will discuss the history of Fighter F15-3 with you
After World War II, air-to-air missiles were widely used. In the Vietnam War, the United States’ over-reliance on missiles caused the fall of the US F-4 fighter. The reason is that the maneuverability of the fighter is reduced when launching missiles, and the enemy aircraft can seize the opportunity to avoid missile attacks through maneuvers. Since then, based on the experience on the battlefield in Vietnam, the US military has launched the F-X experimental fighter project to improve the lightness of the new generation of fighters. In 1969, McDonnell Douglas’s F-15 Eagle appeared in people’s vision.
Gaining air superiority is the primary goal of the US military in developing the F-15. Its maneuverability is significantly better than that of second-generation fighters such as the F-4. Through two F100-PW-100 turbofan engines, the afterburner thrust can reach 11,340 kg. There is a speed reducer on the back of the aircraft, and its maximum opening is 35 degrees. As a third-generation fighter, the F-15 fighter has not only greatly improved in aerodynamic layout and engine, but also adopted a brand-new control system. With the emergence of new air-to-air missiles, the F-15 fighter has replaced the AIM-120 medium-range air-to-air missile and the AIM-9X combat missile. Its air superiority has been further improved.
The F-15 series of fighters are still the main equipment of the United States, Israel and other countries, and its existence has a far-reaching impact on the air combat pattern.
