Motor Home History
After the end of World War I (1918), millions of horses died in the war. The rapid decline in the number of horses led to the replacement of horse-drawn motorhomes with motorhomes driven by internal combustion engines. Thus, trailer motorhomes were born.
Until 1919, solid-walled motorhomes became popular in the UK to adapt to the changing climate. In the United States, tent-style trailers were widely welcomed because of the good regional climate conditions. This variant of trailer motorhomes can still be seen in American off-road trailers.
In the 1930s, motorhomes made of solid wood began to emerge. It was the same height as the common family cars at the time, and was equipped with cabinets and some simple furniture. During the Great Depression in the United States, large-scale unemployment caused people to lose their houses. During this period, many people began to buy trailer motorhomes. In the 1940s, after the end of World War II, many RV manufacturers began to innovate and advance in trailers again, promoting the RV market into a new era.
In 1970, the Japanese Toyota Group began to open up the American car market and occupied an increasing share, and their production strategy gradually shifted to pickup trucks. Toyota Minivan is a typical C-type RV with a bed above the cab, a bathroom at the rear, a kitchen in the middle and a small dining table for two people. To this day, pickup trucks are still popular all over the world.
